Introducing our January 2nd baby!
Here is what her mom, Lyndsay Best, had to say about her experience with the L-C Life-Care Fertility program:

"She is a sweet little baby, and she's healthy which is the most important thing. She is sleeping really good, and she's feeding really good
I still have my paper that you gave me, after I got pregnant, that told me what I couldn't do. I didn't do any of it! I followed the advise right down to a tee!

We wanted her, and we trusted in you (Dr. Li) and Dr. Chen, we knew we were going to get our baby if we did... and it was worth it! Sometimes you can lose faith, and we had to remember that you can't do that when you have a goal in mind. We kept the faith and we kept going with it and its so worth it!
I tell people acupuncture is how we got our baby - if I know of anyone else, I tell them to definitely go this natural route, instead of any other not natural route.
Acupuncture would rejuvenate me. If I didn't have treatment, I would feel like I need it. She is our little acupuncture baby!"

Congratulations Lyndsay and Kirk!!

“My beautiful baby boy Oscar was born on April 2nd, at 6lbs, 13oz and 20” long. He was born at around 39 weeks and very healthy so it was very nice to be able to take him home the next day. So far he is a very calm baby, so I think you were right about the acupuncture helping. We will be forever grateful for your big part in helping our little miracle happen!”

“I wanted to send you a huge thank you for everything you have done for me in regards to my infertility! I came to see you in March 2008 after trying to conceive for 4 years. My husband and I had been patients at the ART clinic in Halifax and had spent a lot of money on infertility treatments, only to be disappointed. After a long cycle of injections and a failed IUI I decided to take a chance on Natural Medicine and Chinese Acupuncture; thanks to your continuous support, positive thinking, encouraging words and extreme talents I am now 7 months pregnant! You told me to keep faith and that I would be a mom by next mother’s day, you said give you 3-6 months and I would be pregnant… and here I am! Words can not say how much my husband and I thank you for giving us the best gift of our lives!”

“Four years ago I was told that I was pregnant. My husband and I were overjoyed. I spent hours thinking about names for our little one, if it would be a boy or girl, what he/she would look like, how we were going to decorate the nursery, etc. These dreams came to a very disappointing end when I was told in my 11th week that there was no heartbeat. We were devastated to say the least! A few months later I was pregnant again but had another miscarriage. A year later I had a third miscarriage and gave up all hope of ever having a baby until an acquaintance of mine mentioned acupuncture. She had the same history of miscarriages and acupuncture had worked for her. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical but willing to try anything. After several treatments, I became pregnant again and continued with the treatments. The results were AMAZING J (Bernadette gave birth to a healthy baby boy on September 19, 2007). I want to thank you all again and want to say that I’ll definitely be back as one of your patients when we decide on baby #2! Good luck to all of you reading and try to keep faith.”

Mary Jill came to the L-C Acupuncture & Natural Medicine Clinic November 30, 2005 for a consultation, after just recently having an ectopic pregnancy which was terminated.   Since then she has had trouble with her menstrual cycles and is trying to conceive.  Mary Jill has a 3 year old son and she is worried that she will not be able to have another child.    A friend of Mary Jill‘s, Tracey Foster, told her that she conceived after coming to our clinic for infertility treatments.  With the support of her doctor Mary Jill decided to try infertility treatments as well.

On December 1, 2005 Mary Jill began acupuncture, cupping therapy, herbal remedies to regulate and balance the female organs, to regulate and balance her hormone system and to balance the yin and yang in order to prepare the uterus for conception.

Mary Jill continued treatments for the next four months.  During the months of April and May, Mary Jill was not on any herbal remedies, only acupuncture.   On June 6th an ultrasound and blood test confirmed Mary Jill had conceived on May 5th; which was also the only time her husband was at home.  As her husband is employed by the navy he was away quite a bit during that time, he was, however, at home on May 5th the day in which she conceived.  She was very surprised that she actually became pregnant because of his absence.  Initially she thought she was experiencing early menopause, as her periods were so irregular anyway.  On June 6, 2006 Mary Jill had a blood test and ultrasound confirming she was indeed pregnant.

Patient Comment:
I found out I was pregnant June 1, 2006.  My due date is January 30, 2007.  I feel nauseous most of the time and sometimes vomit.  Other than that I feel good, a little anxious though.  I had an ultrasound June 6, 2006 to confirm it was not ectopic.

“The second I entered the clinic my nerves were met with a feeling of calmness. The energy of the staff was open, warm and caring. So different from the other doctor’s offices I had visited. I met with Dr. Li and within moments I was assured that this was not something to be worried about, that we could be helped and that the clinic staff would look after my husband and I.
On December 14th 2006, 5:11am Nealah Anne was born weighing 9 pounds 1oz. Healthy, happy and strong. Our daughter is now 15 months old and has never been on medication, is very healthy, and is a relatively calm and well-behaved child. I think my calmness throughout the pregnancy has helped with that. I have recently returned to Dr. Li for treatments. My husband and I have conceived our second child naturally, without any help at all. Although this came as quite a surprise, it is a very welcome one. I have chosen to start acupuncture again to give our second child the same great start our first child had. I look forward to a relaxing, healthy pregnancy and hopefully another healthy, happy child. My thanks to Dr. Li and Dr. Chen for helping me get my body healthy. I feel as though acupuncture has reset my body and has allowed it to start working the way it was always meant to.”

“My name is Tasha Whynott and prior to April 2006 I had two miscarriages. My mom recommended that I come to L-C Acupuncture Clinic to see Dr. Diana Li and Dr. Franklyn Chen. On April 5, 2006 I began infertility treatments with Dr. Li and Dr. Chen. We now have a healthy, happy baby boy who was born on June 6, 2007. Now in March 2008 I am starting acupuncture treatments again to prepare for a second pregnancy. I find that acupuncture not only helped me to get pregnant and stay pregnant but also helps to relieve stress and feel better in general.”

Heather and her husband had been trying to conceive for a year and half before seeking treatment at L-C Acupuncture & Natural Medicine Clinic. The couple began treatment in February of 2006 and found out in April 2006 that they were expecting their first child.

“I came to the L-C clinic originally because of fertility problems and stress related to trying to conceive. After a couple months of treatments I started to feel great! (Actually, really great after only a couple weeks). Four months later I was pregnant with twins! (Careful what you wish for). Two years later I’m back again. Yep, stress and (maybe?) wanting to get pregnant again? Only one this time, Okay?”

Heather came to the L-C Acupuncture & Natural Medicine Clinic on February 3, 2006 after consulting with other medical professionals and trying to get pregnant for 1 ½ years unsuccessfully.  Heather and her husband were patients here at the clinic.  Testing confirmed that her husband’s sperm count was low as well.
Heather began acupuncture, cupping therapy, herbal remedies and a detoxification program to regulate and balance the female organs, to regulate and balance her hormone system and to balance the yin and yang in order to prepare the uterus for conception.
On April 3, 2006 a self-testing procedure indicated that she was pregnant.  She tested it again on April 4th and 6th; she was so happy she couldn’t believe the results.  On April 6th Heather saw her doctor and a blood test confirmed that she indeed was pregnant - due date December 11, 2006.  Heather said her husband was very excited.

Melissa was referred by Dr. Hilda Fox to the L-C Acupuncture & Natural Medicine Clinic.  After a careful consultation an intensive program of acupuncture, cupping therapy and Traditional Chinese herbal remedies was designed for Melissa to treat both stress and the inability to get pregnant.
Melissa had been trying to get pregnant since May of 2005 (7 months - going on 8 months).  The stress of not being able to stay pregnant when she had conceived (3 earlier miscarriages/chemical pregnancies) and having a bit of difficulty getting pregnant has caused stress sometimes affecting sleep, as well as, causing anxiety and feeling down - usually when her period arrived.
Melissa received acupuncture only - no herbal medicine

Lila came to our clinic on November 27, 2003 with unexplained infertility.  After a careful consultation she was put on a special treatment program of acupuncture and TCM to prepare her for an IVF procedure.
Lila wrote:  “Born September 26, 1968 started seeking treatment when I was 30 years old.  The first thing I had was a hystereosonigram to see if my tubes were blocked.  My tubes were fine.  Then we proceeded to have a laparoscope’s.  The doctor found a mild case of endometriosis and did laser treatment during the scope and got it all.” The next cycle we conceived our son who will be 3 on April 11th 2004.
After trying again to conceive for about 6 months we sought a specialist once again.  She said we should perform another laporoscopy because quite often endometriosis does come back.  On April 2nd, 2003 I had another laporoscopy but this time everything looked great.
I continued to try two cycles of super ovulation with no luck.  Now at 35 years with a FSH level of 7.6 we decided to try in vitro fertilization.”
Lila continued: “ I was a low responder to the fertility drugs used in in vitro fertilization because I only started with 9 follicles during the cycle.  Of the 9 follicles only 6 follicles matured.  Fortunately all 6 follicles had eggs in them and all 6 eggs were fertilized.  On February 6, 2004 was the egg retrieval date and on the 9th was day 3 implantation.  There was no cramping during or after the implantation.  They implanted 3 eggs.”
14 days later my HCG level was at 255.  On day 116 my HCG  level was at 597.  We have a pregnancy!”
Before the implantation Lila received 7 acupuncture treatments close together; and after the implantation another 7 acupuncture treatments over a span of 2 ½ weeks.  Lila then received acupuncture once a week for the first 3 months of her pregnancy.  For the remainder of her term she had acupuncture twice a month to stimulate delivery as she has gone past her due date.   Lila delivered an 11lb.5 oz. healthy baby boy naturally on November 3, 2005

Tracey came to our clinic on October 4, 2004 with infertility issues having had 3 miscarriages in the past two years, as well as, suffering from stress and insomnia issues related to the infertility problem.  Tracey started a personalized acupuncture and TCM herbal treatment program, after a careful consultation and testing procedure.

At the end of November 2004, after approximately 2 months of acupuncture & TCM treatments she became pregnant.  As she did not complete her 3 cycles of the basic treatment program, her HCG level was very low.  On Nov 23, 2004 her HCG level was (34); her doctor made her aware at this time of the possibility that she could have another miscarriage.   At this point we decided to increase her acupuncture treatments to every other day to ensure she would not miscarry.  After receiving intense acupuncture treatments her HCG level increased significantly: Nov 26, 2004 (163), Nov 30/04 (786), Dec 03, 2004 (2487, Dec 16, 2004 (43597).  After Dec 16/04 Tracey received treatments once a week for the remainder of the pregnancy.

On July 25, 2005 Tracey gave birth to a healthy baby boy “Luke William Foster” weighing 6lb.7oz.  After the birth Tracey came back for post pregnancy care.
